Hills of Herat: Reviews & Ratings
This Afghan restaurant in New Jersey exceeded our expectations. The team was warm, welcoming, and very professional. The food and atmosphere made for a wonderful experience. We’ll definitely be returning!
I just went to Hills of Herat last evening and it was fantastic. The atmosphere is fantastic and the decor is absolutely stunning. It was a little busy but the workers seated us quickly and even asked our preference. Our server was nice and very attentive even though she was visibly running around taking care of her other multiple tables. I got the Chicken Kabob with Zamarud and my husband got the Filet Mignon Kabob with Naringe. They took about 25 minutes to come out, but both dishes came out cooked beautifully. Juicy and very flavorful. The rice we each got paired fantastic with the spices of the meat and we deeply enjoyed our meal. Afterwards we got dessert; Choclava and Rice Pudding and they were a very good finish to our meal and experience. The owner Wali is also fantastic. He came over and spoke to us multiple times during our meal and he made the restaurant feel like home. Overall we loved our time here and will absolutely comeback again!
Hills of Herat is an excellent spot for really good Mediterranean food. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was welcoming, the service was great, and the portions were generous. Prices were very reasonable for the quality you get. Definitely a must-try if you’re looking for authentic, delicious Mediterranean cuisine. Highly recommended!
Very good place for dine in. Delicious food with good variety. Service and staff is awesome. We went there to celebrate birthday, they played a happy birthday song and they have and they brought it with candle. It was busy though we went for dinner on Saturday. Amazing experience, for good halal food, this is the best place.l am posting some pics too.
I chose Afghan specialties! Why not?! Chicken Qorma with a sampling of their 3 rices! The atmosphere is great and it's very well decorated. It's open space but not loud which is nice for after work gathering. There is no alcohol, but it does appear to have been a bar in the past. All of the staff I interacted with were extremely nice and engaging! They were also very attentive and I felt appreciated. I have been here twice and will come again! I also love the red spicy sauce! Eat up!
I loved my first visit to the Hills of Herat. I dined inside of this beautiful eatery on the nineteenth of August and that was the day of Afghanistan's one hundred and sixth anniversary of Independence from Great Britain despite Afghistan never having been colonized by any country in its history. Most favorably, I enjoyed the lamb shank I ate and the green tea with saffron. Lastly, the manti dumplings were delicious.
The upscale atmosphere is perfectly complemented by the exceptional quality of both the food and service. The dishes are thoughtfully prepared with rich, layered flavors, and the service is attentive and seamless. The decor adds to the overall experience, creating a refined and welcoming setting. As for the comments about portion sizes or prices, I would encourage you to disregard those—prices are in line with the high-end atmosphere and are reflective of the overall dining experience. This restaurant truly meets every expectation for an upscale dining experience.
Fantastic authentic food. Great service and atmosphere. Food variety was really good. Prices were very reasonable. Of you are looking for something different, this is it. Highly recommend. Its BYOB no cork charge which is another plus.
